Many property managers are looking to improve their business operations as the economy continues to tighten up. For vacation rental managers, there are a lot of choices out there to consider as avenues to improve your business automation. A good place to start is talking with the competitors in your area and see what is working for them. Another resource is the Vacation Rental Managers Association, a national association of vacation rental property managers and related vendors that have a long history of providing solutions to the rental management industry for years.
Things to look for when evaluating vacation rental software packages are;
-
Number of years the company has been in business
-
How many clients they represent or support
-
What platform their software is based on
-
How strong the accounting package is
-
If they do on-line bookings
-
And the depth of the work order module
You may of course have your own list of needs that you will also want to review with them. Make sure you talk with other users of the program and ask detailed questions as to how the program works for them and how the company handles support issues and future wishes. Are there additional things on your list? If so, feel free to add them in the comments section.
You can improve you operations by upgrading your reservations software you just have to do your homework so that you don’t waste your time and money.
